About the 2025 SRC Elections
The elections are managed by KDBS Consulting (Pty) Ltd as the appointed Independent Electoral Officer
The SRC elections must be held annually in the first month of the fourth quarter of each year in accordance with the Election Regulations, or, in exceptional circumstances, in such other period as may be determined by the CSRC in consultation with the office of the Dean of Students. The President shall call an election of the SRC by way of proclamation setting out dates on which voting will take place. The Vice-Chancellor or his/her nominee may, after consultation with the outgoing SRC, outsource the conduct of elections of the SRC to a reputable organisation.

The SRC derives its authority from section 35 of the Act, the Statute, the SRC Constitution and other relevant University policies. The SRC is not a legal entity and as such, is not the bearer of its own rights and it cannot sue or be sued in its name. The Council recognises the SRC as the body that Students elect to represent their general interests. The SRC Constitution and any amendments to it and the SRC by-laws must be ratified by the Council in order to come into effect. This Constitution is binding on the Central Student Representative Council, Local Student Representative Councils, CGSC, LGSCs, Student Organisations, CSOs and the Student Community. According to the SRC Constitution, the SRC shall have no political affiliation. The Constitution applies to all Campuses. Any conduct contrary to the SRC Constitution is regarded as null and void to the extent of the inconsistency.
